Bits and Bytes

Mmmm.  Computer has been running like a dog lately and finally spat the dummy the last week, saying it was down to 49Mb disk space and was giving up the ghost.

Old luddite me goes into a panic, shuts it down, books the nice techie guy for the following week and  ignores it for a while.

D-day arrives and I manage to get the beast started, run a defrag and shuffle some files around, releasing enough disc space for the techie to log on remotely and rummage around for a few hours.  The upshot of which is that he found an obscure folder holding 49 gigabytes of spurious Microsoft updates. God knows how they got there, but they aren't damn well there now. That's all I'm going to say on the matter....
